History[]

Keiji was the son of an eccentric bookseller, in a city in northern Andor, near the borderlands. His father was a short, rotund man who always had his nose in a book. The man had delusions of grandeur of being some sort of hero, he even claimed that he has part Shienaran. So, when he had a son, he named him Keiji, after a Shienar warrior he read about in the book.

Oddly enough, the name fit his son. Keiji grew to be the opposite of his father. He was tall, handsome enough, and had a calm and collected air about himself. Perhaps this came from having such an odd name and father. He constantly had to defend and stick up for himself from the other children. The only thing that Keiji did inherit from his father was a love of stories about heroes. He would spend hours upon hours reading fascinating tales of warriors of long ago.

One night, while playing cards, fortune smiled upon Keiji. He was playing with several men traveling through the town and had a particularly excellent hand. As the stakes began to mount, one of the men offered up a sword as collateral. By the time the hand was over, Keiji owned the sword. With almost childish glee he secreted the weapon back to his house. He knew his father would be furious if he found that Keiji had been playing cards, and would most likely want to take the sword for himself.

Just like with how he learned about any new skill, Keiji read about swords in books. He found one that depicted the swords forms, as well as sword care. Every spare moment he had, Keiji practiced learning the forms. After several months of practice, he came to realize he would never learn how to use a sword from a book.

Keiji decided that there was only one option, and that was to leave his home and head to the place where he would get the best training in the world, the White Tower. With a note to his mother and father, a few changes of clothes, some coin, a few books, and his sword, Keiji set off for his new life.
